GOTHIC

I am working on a gothic anthology of literature, which includes poetry and short fiction from the 18th to the beginning of the 20th century.  What would you include?  What are your favourites?  Coleridge, Poe, Hawthorne?  What theoretical and historical documents do you see as integral to understanding the gothic?  Kristeva, Freud, Thomas Carlyle?

  1. I would include Keats for sure: ‘The Eve of St Agnes’ (1819, ‘La Belle Dame Sans Merci’ (1819), ‘Lamia’ (1819)
